Job Title: ESL Co-Teacher Requirements: • TESOL/TEFL certification or equivalent ESL teaching qualification. • Previous experience in teaching ESL, preferably in a primary school setting. • Knowledge of Phonics teaching strategies for Asian learners • Familiarity with the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum is an advantage. • Knowledge of interactive and incremental assessment strategies with appropriate rewarding systems • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. • Inter-Cultural sensitivity and a passion for working with young learners. Key Responsibilities: • Collaborative planning aligned with the English and IB curriculum Co-teach classes by: • Leading activities • Maintaining good classroom behavior • Providing additional support and guidance to students • Conducting ongoing assessments and documenting attainments • Offering bilingual clarifications of key terms, grammar and vocabulary • Providing local cultural contexts to enhance students' understanding while facilitating awareness of local perspectives • Providing students with key strategies for self- study and boosting memory • Maintaining an overall balance of local and global knowledge exchange for holistic learning experiences. Local Co-Teachers are also expected to: • Meet with other local co-teachers and track the progress of teaching strategies and assessments and share their findings. • Assist in the preparation classroom materials and resources. • Contribute to the preparation of reports on student performance and progress. • Provide feedback to students and parents as needed. • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay updated on best practices in ESL education. • Promote an understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity within the classroom. • Support students’ integration into the school community and help them navigate cultural differences. • Track the progress and completion of ManageBac • Maintain the order and presentation of student portfolios
